Moab Rally date change to October 2nd-7th, 2012.
The 2012 Rally was arranged at the end of the 2010 Rally in Moab. It was scheduled in the summer to accommodate participant who wished to bring their families (children) during the summer break. The Executive Committee of the Club in preparation for this years Rally has received important information about other activities scheduled the same week as the June 19th 2012. It appears that Johnny Dep is using Moab as the site for his new Lone Ranger movie. This will result in a congested motels, restaurants and venues until July 9th. At this early time it appears that there may only be 70 housing units available for that week.
This poses a major problem for the some 200-300 participants of the LR National Rally. The major gathering center and event center “The Spanish Arena” has limited other available times later in the summer. There is however, availability in the first week of October 2-7th. This shift will guarantee the necessary housing and facilities needed to have a world class Rally.
We realize that such change may significantly affect families already planning vacations around the Rally. We regret the inconvenience that such a change may cause our members and participants. We feel to maintain to feel and integrity of the Rally we must propose a time change in the Fall.
